During a time when communication over the internet was in its infancy and phone lines were compromised, our site allowed members of our community to communicate with family and friends around the world. Resources below will allow you to explore Battery Park City's impact on 9/11 and the days that followed, and will immerse you into old copies of our website that once helped so many during a horrific time.

Following 9/11, Battery Park City residents relied on our site to communicate, cope, and recover in so many ways. Thanks to the Wayback Machine, in this year we are able to access old, archived versions of our website from 2001. The first capture of our website following the attacks was on October 23rd, 2001. You will notice a menu of pages to the left or on the top of our website's home page. While numerous online services were available, the "Discussion BBoard" was the most used among neighbors to communicate. You may need to scroll down on the "Discussion BBoard" page to view posts added directly after 9/11. *Note: Following weeks of enduring the aftermath of the attacks, many users made insensitive and inappropriate remarks on our site.
